We love eggy bread or savory french toast in our house and it’s a staple and made at least twice a week for breakfast. All of us enjoy a hearty breakfast of egg bread toast and some sauteed vegetables.

How do you make eggy toast?
- It’s quite simple to make. Heat up a pan with butter or oil.
- Dip the bread slices in a mixture of egg, milk (optional) and seasoning.
- Shallow fry to get crispy outer covering a soft inner bread.
How do you make eggy bread without milk?
Simply make a batter with egg, salt and pepper. You can add vegetables or herbs also in this batter. Dip the bread slices in this batter one by one and shallow fry with butter or oil until done.
What’s the difference between eggy bread and french toast?
They are the same with just different names. Eggy bread is usually savory and French toast can be savory or sweet. Also known as Bombay toast, German toast, Gypsy toast and Torrija.

Eggy Bread
Bread soaked in an egg batter and shallow fried to perfection
Ingredients
- 4 Bread Slices
- 3 Eggs
- 2 tbsp Butter or 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions

Cut the bread slices diagonally and keep aside.

Gather all ingredients before beginning.

Make a batter with eggs, salt and pepper. You can also add some milk if you want soft french toast or eggy bread.

Heat a pan with butter or oil.

Dip each slice of bread in the batter and cover with the batter from all sides.

Shallow fry until golden brown on both sides.
