Ghee Biscuits Recipe (Without Any Baking Powder or Soda)
Ghee biscuits are made with just four ingredients and are super easy to make. These are eggless, made with whole wheat and has no baking powder or baking soda in it. These biscuits are perfect for the kids and a great tea time snack too.
I have grown up eating ladoo (laddu) instead of biscuits. We always had access to home made ladoos or pedas as kids. The one ladoo my grand mom always used to make were aate ke ladoo. She would slowly roast whole wheat flour in ghee for hours. Then mix it with sugar, gond (edible gum), aromatics and shape them as ladoos.
I picked her recipe of ladoo and tried baking them as ghee cookies or ghee biscuits. Result was soft, crumbly, melt in the mouth, addictive cookies which were made within half an hour from start to finish. When I told my grand mom that my ghee biscuits took only half an hour and they taste almost like your aate ke ladoo, she didn’t believe me. I promised to make these in front of her for her stamp of approval.
These whole wheat biscuits are absolutely kid friendly. I am also very happy to share that I managed to bake eggless cookies without any baking soda and baking powder. These are my four ingredient cookies made with whole wheat flour, ghee (clarified butter), brown sugar (or jaggery powder) and cardamom powder (or vanilla essence or any essence you like).

Healthy, soft, crumbly and a very easy ghee biscuits recipe made with only four ingredients.
- 1 1/4 cup Whole Wheat Flour
- 1/2 cup Ghee
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar or Jaggery Powder
- 1 tsp Cardamom powder or Vanilla Essence
- Pinch of Salt optional
- 2 tsp Cold Milk only if needed
Preheat the oven at 180 degree C for 10 minutes. If you are using both the rods and fan setting then you can reduce the temperature to 170 degree C.
Mix together flour, salt, sugar, cardamom powder and bring everything together. Don’t knead too much.
If the mixture is dry, then use 1 tsp of milk at a time to bring everything together into a soft dough.
Take 1 tbsp mixture at a time and shape them into a circle or any shape you like.
Line an oven tray with butter paper or aluminium paper or use a cookie mat. This is not mandatory but it will prevent the cookies from browning a lot at the bottom.
Place the biscuits one at a time on the oven tray. Put the oven tray in the middle rack in the oven.
Bake the biscuits for 12 to 13 minutes or until slightly browned at the edges.
Take the biscuit tray out and let it cool before taking them out. Store them in an air tight container outside at room temperature.
