This spicy momos chutney goes very well with the steamed momos recipe because the momos stuffing has no major spice in it. There are many ways to make this chutney. My mom makes it with more garlic and red chilies. I add charred tomatoes in it to enhance the flavor and balance the spice. After all we don’t live in such cold climatic conditions and don’t need the chili to warm us up.
Some people also add pepper but I only add dried red chilies and garlic. Don’t use red chili powder as it will not give you the flavor you are looking for. I like to dip my steaming hot momos in a cold chutney so I make this chutney before hand and refrigerate. Momos chutney has more uses in Indian kitchen than just being a dipping sauce.
Uses of Momos Chutney
- This chutney can be added in Pav Bhaji in place of the red chili paste.
- Add chopped onions and fresh herbs to make it into a quick Salsa Dip.
- Use this in place of chili oil on top of a pizza.
