Aam Panna

This is the most Indian seasonal drink there ever can be! My mom would swear by it to save us from heat waves. This is the most regular and daily scene in my household. I keep a concoction ready in the fridge as it stores well for a few days so all you have to do is pour jaggery water or sugar syrup and water to make this drink quickly.

  • 1 Big Green Mango cut into two halves
  • Few Mint leaves
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Black Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 1/2 cup Water as required

  1. For the Jaggery water, soak 3/4 cup of jaggery powder or chopped jaggery in 3 cups water.

  3. Remove the stem of the green mango. Pressure cook two halves of the green mango in a pressure cooker for two whistles on high.
  4. Once the pressure naturally settles down, check if they are soft and done. Let the mango cool and come to room temperature.

  9. Pour 2 tbsp of this concentrate in a tall glass, add some mint leaves and ice cubes.

  10. Now pour 1 cup of the prepared jaggery water.

  11. Garnish with mint leaves and serve chilled.

Recipe Notes

You can store the aam panna concetrate and jaggery water in the fridge for almost a week without worrying too much about it getting spoiled.

Gazpacho

Originated in Spain, Gazpacho is a cold soup made with cucumbers, tomatoes, garlic and peppers. This is a very flavorful drink which can be made in a variety of ways. I make this in the summers to have the benefits of vegetables in one glass of juice. It has the freshness from the cucumber, the tartness from the tomatoes, sweetness from the onion and is packed full of flavors from the herbs and seasoning.
