This heat brings a lot of thirst and we all invariably reach out for the simplest solution – the packed beverages! This in spite of knowing that they are unhealthy, full of sugar and preservatives, have very less fiber and can actually harm our bodies. The reason we do this is because we all feel that the task of making our own fresh juice at home is extremely daunting. Well, it’s not!
I have compiled these very easy to make, quick fruit drink recipes which you can even make in your sleep. With fresh fruit you get a lot of dietary fiber, helpful vitamins and keeps you hydrated for long. Since seasonal fruits are generally sweet, you wouldn’t need any additional sugar. You can always opt for a natural sweetener like dates, stevia or a healthier alternative which is jaggery. I have shown you the perfect way to make jaggery water in the video and recipes.

- 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
- Melon Balls for for Garnish
Instructions

Put the frozen melon balls or ice cubes in a tall glass and pour the juice over these.
-

Aam Panna
This is the most Indian seasonal drink there ever can be! My mom would swear by it to save us from heat waves. This is the most regular and daily scene in my household. I keep a concoction ready in the fridge as it stores well for a few days so all you have to do is pour jaggery water or sugar syrup and water to make this drink quickly.

Aam Panna
Indian summer drink made with green unripe mangoes, some Indian spices, herbs and jaggery water.
Ingredients
- 3 cups Jaggery Water*
- 1 Big Green Mango cut into two halves
- Few Mint leaves
- 1 tsp Cumin Powder
- 1/2 tsp Black Salt
- 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
- 1/2 cup Water as required
- Mint Leaves for Garnish
Instructions
-
For the Jaggery water, soak 3/4 cup of jaggery powder or chopped jaggery in 3 cups water.
-
Once the jaggery has dissolved, stir well and sieve the liquid. Store the jaggery water in the fridge for a week and use it to make a glass of aam panna any day.
-
Remove the stem of the green mango. Pressure cook two halves of the green mango in a pressure cooker for two whistles on high.
-
Once the pressure naturally settles down, check if they are soft and done. Let the mango cool and come to room temperature.
-
In a blender, add boiled and cooled pulp of the pressure cooked green mango. Discard the skin.
-
Add mint leaves, cumin powder, black salt, cardamom powder and water 1/2 cup.
-
Blend everything together.
-
Since this is a concentrate, it’s consistency should be a little thick. Store this concentrate in the fridge for a week.
-
Pour 2 tbsp of this concentrate in a tall glass, add some mint leaves and ice cubes.
-
Now pour 1 cup of the prepared jaggery water.
-
Garnish with mint leaves and serve chilled.
Recipe Notes
You can store the aam panna concetrate and jaggery water in the fridge for almost a week without worrying too much about it getting spoiled.
